Just after the start of the new year, fire arts performer Ember Flynne and I braved the cold for what turned out to be a stunning conceptual portrait session. She had the fire, and I had the coat, so it all balanced out. We started at dusk and used only the twilight and the fire to light the photographs. In the end, this snowy fire-and-ice shoot was well worth the numb toes.
